BOYS SQUADS

Curriculum
The national program for boys provides an excellent program for competitive gymnastics. Compulsory exercises on six apparatus form the basis of the program for levels 1-6, whilst Levels 7-10 compete optional routines. Time is given to strength, flexibility and general conditioning, preparing the boys for the required skills. The body preparation exercises provide the foundation for all other sports. The Levels 1A-1D program covers basic skills and short routines as the gymnast is progressively introduced to the six apparatus. Levels 2-10 require increased commitment to training hours and a good attitude to training. Physical and mental preparation increases to prepare the gymnast for more difficult skills. The Levels squads are organised according to age and level. Your son is encouraged to give his training schedule the commitment required to be competitive and achieve his goals.

Competitions
The club enters gymnasts in Regional competitions, and Regional teams in Levels 1-4 are selected to represent the Inner City at State Championships. The Regional Championships is an important event on the competition calendar.  Bunnerong traditionally enters the National Clubs Championships, which is a teams event. Invitational competitions are held at individual clubs and gymnasts are encouraged to compete at these friendly competitions.

Clinics
Holiday clinics are scheduled to provide continuity of training throughout the year, and squad gymnasts are expected to attend to maximize their potential. Australian Institute of Sport holiday clinics provide an excellent opportunity for young gymnasts to train at the National Training Centre with some of Australia's best coaches. The opportunity to use these facilities, observe international gymnasts training, and 'rub shoulders' with Australia's top gymnasts is an invaluable experience for all gymnasts.
